how do you feel about the politics of EDH?
TLDR: someone in the playgroup got super pissed that politics played a role in the game and scooped while telling us "I'm not gonna deal with all these fuckin politics, it's ridiculous" and now I'm wondering how many people dislike that part of the format.
I was playing a game with a friend and two regulars at my LGS, things were going fine minus the two regulars countering or bouncing every spell or permanent I played and practically ignoring the other player and each other. Mind you these weren't strong spells, I was using a [[nicol bolas, dragon god]] flavor win deck, pretty much just amass a lot and play bolas themed spells like [[auger of bolas]] or [[bolas's clutches]]. Anyhow I had offered one of them a way to draw some cards if they let me resolve a spell or two since it's a super low power deck and I had been doing literally nothing for 20 minutes by then, he was fine with that so I played some a [[will kenrith]] to let him draw a couple cards. Other guy wasn't happy about that as he was playing mono blue control and just didn't have mana at the time. Fast forward a half hour of normal commander stuff and an actual vacuum of politics, literally nothing has been asked of anyone since then, and my friend says he wants to kill the guy I let draws oko but doesn't know if he can. I reminded him his stuff had menace and that he could get through with at least a creature, and the dude scoops it up and starts complaining about politics in commander, saying stuff like "it's so fucking stupid, didn't used to be this way, politics weren't a part of the game before" and leaves the shop. He could have won that turn too. Big thing here is that after that, I'm stuck wondering how many people out there don't like politics in commander?
Edit: thank you to all commenting, glad to see so many enjoy it, and interesting to see so many who don't. along with the pretty common idea that once you hit a certain level it gets to be a bad thing
